Today, we are going to share with you some exclusive behind the scenes information from the J. Hillburn show in Dallas last month! We started preparing for the show by having a huge casting open to all Dallas modeling agencies for male models. We had to make sure we chose male models who met the criteria of proper fit for menswear suits and who captured the sophistication of J. Hilburn's quality of style.
We had a final number of 54 male model who met these standards. Along with our clients, we chose 20 models to return the next morning for fittings. The fittings for this kind of show can take some time, but we had to make sure everything fit every single male model. To do this, all jackets and pants were deconstructed and altered to fit each of our models perfectly. The alterations were performed by our professional seamstresses from the Kim Dawson Agency. Our seamstresses spent three days sewing and altering each of these pieces to guarantee a precise fit!
On the day of our event our styling team composed of Jennifer Clarke, Heather Lundy, and Doug Voisin made sure they transported all clothing and accessories from the J. Hilburn corporate offices to the Sheraton Hotel downtown. From here our 2nd team, started working to unload and prep the clothing again for our dress rehearsal. Ana Galaviz, Sirisha Reddy and Christy Westbrook worked along with the core team to prepare backstage.
During this time, Rhonda started blocking the models on the stage for both the fashion show portion of the program as well as the design presentation that followed immediately. Everything was in full throttle! We were on a tight schedule, so not to long after was the dress rehearsal where technical support was provided by ZOOM7 and tunes for the show was by DJ Bear from Chicago! We then prepared hair and makeup for the models, prepared the backstage, and prepped clothing one last time. Not many people know, but menswear styling is all in the details. It’s so important that each member of your team understands every single piece requires a unique styling method.
The opening segment is something we are still thinking about. The audience started on their feet and never sat down! Their stylists were extremely enthusiastic to see the new collection so it really set a great energy for the show. J. Hilburn is the most wonderful client, they are meticulous and have fabulous team spirit!
We truly believe this company is on the rise and ensure the detail in craftsmanship is noticeable. Our models looked spectacular and very polished coming down the runway with such force. All you could see down the runway was a fashion line full of powerful menswear ensembles with perfect topstitching, world class fabrics, beautiful buttons, and seams that fold like butter! Energy was at an all time high as DJ Bear jammed the newest tunes and mixes created just for us! Our show literally left our audience wanting more!
It was such a pleasure to work for a client like J. Hillburn! We are incredibly blessed to work with the best here in Dallas. This is a city full of talent and entertainment. We have world class companies here that know quality and the desire for fine goods. These types of clients with such sophisticated palettes gives us the best that fashion has to truly offer! We planned this event for months and it was a lot of work; but we truly love our job and cannot wait to see what’s next for us!
